{"id":22912,"date":"2022-04-12T10:43:54","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T10:43:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/damacofficial.com\/hussainsajwani\/?p=22912"},"modified":"2025-06-23T06:12:52","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T06:12:52","slug":"ramadan-2022-in-uae-prisoners-debts-to-be-paid-off-in-new-dh2-million-charity-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/damacofficial.com\/hussainsajwani\/ramadan-2022-in-uae-prisoners-debts-to-be-paid-off-in-new-dh2-million-charity-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Ramadan 2022 in UAE: Prisoners&#8217; debts to be paid off in new Dh2 million charity initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dubai Police General Headquarters and The Hussain Sajwani\u2013Damac Foundation (HSDF) launched a Ramadan charitable initiative \u2018Fresh Slate\u2019 to aid detainees charged with petty offences to start a new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative will cover the financial obligations of detainees at Dubai\u2019s Punitive and Correctional Institutions to ensure their release and safe return to their families with a new opportunity to become productive members of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HussainSajwani\/status\/1511342340077719574\">Hussain Sajwani<\/a>, Founder of Hussain Sajwani-Damac Foundation, said the Foundation has earmarked Dh2 million for the project which will be conducted over a period of four months, from April to July 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe release of prisoners coincides with the celebrations of Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha,\u201d Sajwani noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLife can sometimes present challenges that lead people to make decisions putting them on the wrong side of the law, without wilfully intending to break social rules that protect society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added, \u201cWe want to give these people a fresh start so they can embark on a new path, and live a respectful life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Major General Dr Mohammad Abdullah Al Murr, Director of the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police said that the initiative will help detainees and their families who are struggling financially. \u201cIt will also support Dubai Police\u2019s efforts to achieve social solidarity that our true Islamic religion urges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added, \u201cThe joint-effort with Hussain Sajwani-Damac Foundation will establish a new stage of mutual cooperation and reflects our commitment to being a positive force for good in the UAE.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fresh Slate is among a trio of charitable projects being launched by HSDF this year, with others to be announced in the coming weeks.
